New Website Morsurl.com adds highlighting to url shortening.
NEW YORK, New York—August 27, 2009—Morsurl.com yesterday announced it’s new url shortening service which gives users the ability to highlight and share information quickly and easily. Launched Monday, the new site provides highlighting and sharing through an easy to use interface.
Created for use with social networking sites like Twitter, Morsurl.com’s free service highlights a user selected block of text, images or video and provides a unique short url for the site. The creators, Quinn Shanahan and Milo Winningham of What Tech, want to develop the site into a powerful reference and content aggregation tool. “I see Morsurl.com as potentially becoming a useful mashup tool.. Pull out Pieces from multiple web pages and stick them together,” says Shanahan.
Morsurl.com was created as an entry for the application development competition Rails Rumble. The compitition is ” a 48 hour web application development competition…your team gets one weekend to design, develop, and deploy the best web property that you can..” and is sponsored by such heavyweights as Github, Hashrocket and O’Reilly.
